Jorge Carrozzino

Graphic designer and painter, born in Montevideo (Uruguay) in 1938 and died in Paris (France) in 1986.

In 1948 he takes part as a student in the Workshops of artistic expression that the teachers Clavelli Bell and Maria Mercedes Antelo carried on in several schools in Uruguay. He takes part in the staff of illustrators of the children’s magazine El Grillo, of the National Council of Primary and Normal Education. He studied architecture.

In 1960 he obtained two first prizes in a competition of murals for new school buildings.

In 1965 he had a period of intense plastic and graphic activity, and received several awards in poster contests. He is linked to the theater “El Galpon”  where  he designs outstanding scenes and realizes the printing Artegraf,  between 1966 and 1970.

In 1972 the French government awarded him a scholarship to participate in the activities of the University Center for Drama Training and Research in Nancy. The military dictatorship keeps him  in Europe. He settled in Paris, with stays in Florence, where he made a design course at the Institute of Art. He worked as designer at  the  Interior architecture Isabelle Hebey Company.
